ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Hi! My name is Lisa Southwell, and I am SO excited to be part of Morning Creek's fourth grade team, but more importantly, I am THRILLED to be your child's teacher this year. It's going to be a fun year full of lots of learning and new adventures, and I can't wait to see what all is in store for us! I want to know ALL about you, but first let me tell you a bit about myself.
I was born in New York, raised through most of my elementary years in Illinois, and then moved out to California right before my fifth grade year. Once I got here, I went to schools in this very district that you may have heard of. Sundance Elementary, Black Mtn. Middle, and Mt. Carmel High Schools. After that I went to CSU San Marcos and got my Bachelors Degree & Teaching Credentials. A few years later, I went back to CSU San Marcos to get my Master's Degree in Education.
I am the oldest of three children. I have one brother who works with film editing and another brother who lives in Chile with his wife, and daughter where they work as missionaries. I LOVE them! My mom and dad both still live in town and I see them often.
As you can see from my picture, I have three amazing kids. Jacob is attending his first year in high school at Del Norte as a freshman, and Leah will be starting her second year at Oak Valley as a 7th grader. Porter is a third grader at Highland Ranch. We also have a cat named Charlie and a dog, named Lucy.
I have taught 1st grade, 3rd grade, Special Education, 5th grade, and have now been in 4th grade for the last 8 years. I personally think it is the best grade around...but you can be the judge of that! I am so excited to be part of this year's AWESOME, all-star cast that we have lined up in room 16. Let's make 2016-2017 the best ever! Go BEARS!
